Why are our reviews are trustworthy?
Well, we have covered all types of earbuds and headphones here for a long time now, logging hundreds of hours of research and testing in that time. We’ve looked at a huge number of wireless earbuds to create this review.
We keep up with reviews from other noteworthy companies that also test or review products, such as, Ipsos, Amazon and Consumer Reports though we do find that the coverage is not as comprehensive as it could be.
Then we did our own testing of wireless earbuds ourselves and also had other people product test them at home for us. This is conducted with our own consumer product testers, who provide their feedback through our product testing panels.
Who should get these?
One of the most compelling reasons to buy wireless earbuds is to listen to music, obviously. But how well they will work depends on a combination of factors. If you aren’t too picky about having perfect sound quality; you just want earbuds that work well, are low cost, and can take a phone call.
Then these are the wireless earbuds for you:
How we began the test selection process
We started by making a list of all of the best rated wireless earbuds that we could find for sale in retailers stores and online. We listed 56 models in the original selection process for this category.
The sound range is the biggest thing to look for when it comes to choosing wireless earbuds. We all want to experience a clear treble sound quality and a rich bass sound from our audio accessories.
Now when it comes to battery life, we aimed for earbuds within a range of battery lifespans and scored them according to how long they lasted in our testing.
Weight as with any audio accessory, is important to factor into the wireless earbuds review.
We checked their controls to see if they came with a microphone and easy it was to change music/ volume.
We also looked to ensure they all had some support available if they were to break.
If they were sweat and/or water resistant, were noted down and scored.
We whittled down our list of earbuds by combining the above requirements with the lists of reviews we had researched from websites like Top Ten Reviews, Amazon and Consumer Reports and were somewhat surprised to find the same brands, and in some cases the same models, listed over and over again, which made our job easier.
Of the models we looked at, we decided to test the 13 best rated wireless earbuds:
How we tested them
After the long and arduous process of charging and pairing all of the contenders for our tests and then sending more earbuds out to our chosen consumer product testers (so they could go through the same pain). Our expert and consumer panel listened to the wireless earbud finalists and evaluated them on sound quality, ease of use, comfort and fit, and overall visual appearance.
Based on their experiences, each panelist chose their top two. We then took the costs into consideration, and from there selected the overall winner.
