Sephora Collection Instant Nail Polish Remover Wipes
Why our reviews are trustworthy
We have covered nail polish remover wipes here at ReviewLatest.com since they came out few years now, logging hundreds of hours of research and testing in that time (we need them too!). We’ve looked at a large number of wipes to create this review. We keep up with reviews from other noteworthy companies that also test or review beauty products, such as, Amazon, Sephora and Total Beauty though we do find that the coverage is not as comprehensive as it could be for this category. Then we do our own testing of remover wipes with ourselves, experts and selected members of our consumer product testers, to product test them at home and provide their feedback through our product testing panels.
*This review covers the best polish remover wipes on the market before and since the last time we created this guide. We’ve covered this category extensively.
Who should get this?
Everyone…When it comes to nail polish removers, most of us will go to amazing lengths in order to find that perfect product. That one that removes that stubborn nail polish and gives an overall flawless nail finish. We will spend all of our money on various products, read reviews until our heads spin and, of course, allow nail specialists in magazine advertorials and on TV to convince us that their product is the best. Well, in order to put an end to this madness and to hopefully save you time, hassle and a few bucks we are sharing with you the results of our extensive research and testing.
How we began the test selection process
We started by making a list of all of the top rated nail polish removers that we could find for sale in stores and online. We listed 37 in our original selection process for this category.
Nail removers, like all cosmetics, are personal to you. To choose one, you need to have a deep knowledge of your own nails, including it skin shade, their undertones, strengths and weaknesses but also what your perfect nails looks like.
We combed through thousands of nail remover wipes reviews to bring you the most helpful, insightful titbits about the top polish removers. Reviewers claim these wipes are the winners among a sea of mediocre polish remover products.
So before you set your makeup again, take a gander at the polish remover wipes on this list and ask yourself: “Self, would you say such lovely things about the wipes you use?” If the answer is no, it’s time to hit the store or beauty counter — armed with this list.
We started by looking at the basics. We removed wipes with controversial ingredients. We know that ingredients lists that makes one person cringe is shrugged off by another person. So to warrant being cut from the list, ingredients had to increase the risk of clogging pores or an increase in the risk of skin irritation or sun damage.
- Sodium lauryl sulfate
- Retinyl palmitate, and retinyl acetate
- Oxybenzone and octinoxate
- Diazolidinyl urea and quaternium-15
After wading through hours of reading everything on nails from scientific papers, and product specifications to consumer reviews (plus a few heated debates between us), we were then able to get the list down to the 8 wipes we brought in for testing.
How we tested them
We matched the nail polish remover wipes to a cross section of our consumer panelists, in terms of age, lifestyle and skin type, then sent out the products for our consumer product testers to test at home, and also got them ready for our in-house panelists. Once everyone had their products to test, each panelist started by noting down the basic statistics for the wipes, such as the ingredients, pack size and texture.
Then, before treating, we each had to test a patch of skin first to ensure our suitability for the polish removers. Once that was completed, the instructions were simple, to use the wipes every week, and to monitor the quality of the results within the first 2 weeks and then after weeks 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 after the testing started, with a final total score for each at the end of week 8. So, armed with the products, we started incorporating them into our weekly beauty routines for the two months and monitored our nails and skin reactions.
Once the 8 weeks were up and we had finished testing all the top rated polish remover wipes, we analyzed the results to find out which ones came out on top. Then we looked at the current retail prices for each one and found our favorite picks were not always the more expensive ones. Our winner turned out to be the best value of all of the finalists, so price does not correlate that well with quality with these wipes.
