Why our reviews are trustworthy
We have covered winter sports equipment and in particular snowboards here for a few years now. Did you know that in 1939, Vern Wicklund, at just 13 years old, fashioned the first shred deck in Cloquet, Minnesota. This modified sled was dubbed a “bunker” by Vern. It then took Vern (and his relatives Harvey and Gunnar Burgeson), 22 years to patent the first ever snowboard? Well I for one, am so glad he got around to it eventually, I would miss my shredding if he hadn’t.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand, since we started covering snowboards, we have looked at large number of different types and makes, plus logged days of research (I for one am more than happy to do this every year!) and consulted with experts (see credits at the end) to create this review every year. We always keep up with other well known companies that also review or test snowboards, such as, ConsumerReports, Amazon and Which? Then we do our own testing by selecting our participating experts, members of our consumer product testing panels who test the products and provide us with their feedback, and of course ourselves.
*This review covers best snowboards on the market before and since the last time we created this guide.

Who should get these
Everyone who wants to save hassle and time choosing a great snowboard to buy or if you have one already that is not giving you the performance it should, is bust all together or you want another one for park or all mountain activities, then take a look at the best snowboards on this list and ask yourself: “Self, would you say the same about your current board?” If the answer is no, it’s time to get yourself one better suited to you, with this snowboard guide.
Now, most of us try to find a perfect snowboard to buy, that will make shredding that much better for us. We think about all of the types and brands of boards, read reviews until our brains turn to mush, and of course, let snowboarding pro’s and experts on TV and in magazine adverts convince us that their brand is the best. Well, we hope to help you end to all this advertising crap, and to save you hassle, time, and improve your riding. We are sharing with you the results of this years extensive research and testing.
How we began the selection process
We began making a list of all of the top rated snowboards that we knew about or found for sale in stores and online. We then checked through, literally…thousands of reviews of people that had purchased them, study papers and manufacturers information to be able to bring you the most helpful, insightful guide on the best snowboards for all mountain and park activities. We listed 41 boards this year alone.
There are so many variables to get right: the build quality, the materials, the camber, the taper, the flex, the sidecut, and weight. There are countless styles of snowboards on the market, and choosing the right one is key to the success or failure of your next purchase.
After a few heated debates between us about the above specifications, which boards were better based on the reviews and which we personally recommended, we were able to get the list down to the 15 park or all mountain snowboards we selected to be taken out to the mountains for testing.
How we tested
For the this year, we again used our consumer product testing panel as well as experts and ourselves, to select snowboarders from all around the country based on their skill and snowboarding knowledge to join us for testing. This year’s testing was conducted at two locations, one in Europe and one in the US, both locations provided great terrain for the all mountain snowboard tests and had awesome park facilities for the park snowboard testing, plus we wanted to get feedback from people on both sides of the Atlantic, so we get a better all round result.
So, first we traveled to Mammouth Mountain, which was the location for the US Freeski and Snowboard Grand Prix and then to Mayrhofen, Austria which is where the Burton Terrain Park is located. Now, it is not easy to choose the perfect board by any means, there are so many differences to account for like, flex, taper and sidecut, width and camber to name a few. During testing our testers all felt exhausted with all of the activities and different boards we had going on, but were all very glad to participate again this year in order to help the next generation of boarders to get the best snowboard for them.
After an amazing couple of weeks out on the mountains (both locations were epic!), the testing phase was up and we had finished testing all the boards, so all of the scorecards for each were submitted and the results were analyzed to find out the ranking order of the top rated snowboards this year and here are the results.
